AN EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMAN
Not everything has been bad in this War and Peace epic and ongoing saga. There has been some extraordinary people, including some at Erewash Borough Council.
But it is notable when a complete stranger chooses to stand by another complete stranger when the easiest option would have been to walk away.
Welcome to my co-
A pensioner born in an era of war when people were fighting and dying to uphold the rights and freedoms we are supposed to enjoy many decades later.
The very same rights and freedoms the European Convention on Human Rights and The Human Rights Act incorporated into British legislation tells us in print that we are entitled to enjoy the protection of.
The fundamentally basic right of each and every one of us to expect reasonable and peaceful enjoyment of our homes and the right to defend our homes, irrespective of whether that home is a tenement, terrace or turret. All should be afforded equal rights and equal protection in the eyes of the law.
A pensioner brought up to believe in the truth and the rights and freedoms in which to speak that truth.
A pensioner who could have walked away but did not.
A stranger who stood by another stranger.
